We first met the clients when client modifications had been agreed with the developer and standards for a new apartment chosen. At this stage, they cooperated with another architect but their cooperation, regarding furnishing of the apartment, was discontinued and they turned to us with this job…
Our task was to furnish the apartment and reconstruct its bathroom and lavatory to make their style consistent with future furnishing of the interior.
Right from the introductory meeting and quick look at the layout of the apartment, it was clear that we would change the layout of the future kitchen. In the later steps of creating layouts and designs, our opinion was confirmed.
In contrast to the originally designed U-shaped kitchen and the incomprehensible position of a dining table in the free space, a linear kitchen layout with a free-standing island, to which the dining table is connected, arose.
A sofa and a subsequent TV wall are freely placed in the space in the same direction.
During the complete renovation of the bathroom and lavatory, a bathtub was replaced with a shower and battery types, especially in the shower, were exchanged, too. Unfortunately, we were unable to build a shower channel drain into the floor but we solved the issue by local elevation in the shower area, on the edge of which a custom-made smoky glass shower screen was installed.
Thanks to a plasterboard lining in which all plumbing is led, we were able to create a narrow niche in the shower area which serves the clients for placing cosmetics, and a space was created for a future cabinet above the washbasin and the toilet.
What we struggled with from the beginning was how to camouflage quite unnecessary inspection doors and the essential circuit breakers on the part of the developer. We covered the circuit breakers with a mirror furniture wall in the entryway. The inspection door, located opposite the entrance to the apartment, was masked by false door wings connected to the cabinets in the entryway, and the last inspection door in the lavatory was overlaid with a mirror wall located above the basin.
The overall style of the apartment is in the Scandinavian and modern spirit. The dominant combination of colours is white and grey, with contrasting black, complemented by wood for a cosier look.
The style of the bathroom and lavatory matches the style of the interior, but compared to other rooms, where there is screed effect vinyl flooring, there are wood effect tiles.
To us, the project illustrates that despite a lower financial budget it is possible, thanks to great cooperation with the clients, to finish the interior so as to create a stylish and harmonized space…
