In the year 2020, we were approached by clients who wanted to renovate their flat with 3 rooms and a kitchen, in Holešovice neighbourhood.
Their priority was to redesign the floor plan of the whole flat. They particularly aimed to address the central area, enlarge the bathrooms, and, if possible, create a separate bathroom for the parents.
Based on these requirements, we designed a 3-room apartment, where we created a comfortable bedroom with a spacious dressing room area. There is also a private bathroom there with a shower, toilet and wash basin.
We moved the kitchen to the central area of the flat, which previously served as a dining room. By doing that we made this space much bigger than before.
The smallest change was in the children’s room and its bathroom. We didn’t design the interior, we only adjusted the floor plan.
As for the design of the flat, the clients granted us creative freedom and were not scared of a black-grey colour combination.
Initially, our vision was to design an interior with an eclectic touch because of the surrounding area and the house in which the flat is located. However, the clients preferred a modern, even minimalistic, interior.
We tried to combine these two worlds, but to give the priority to the preferences of the clients.
By combining these two styles, we could enjoy the benefits of both worlds. For example, we used doors with hidden door frames, extending to the ceiling but also classic decorated doors with wooden frames. We also used decorative wall moulding in a combination with a cement plaster, that is so modern nowadays.
We were not afraid to work with a black colour, that is on purpose used on some furniture pieces. We wanted to use it to create a visual division between the hallway and the bedroom and also between the kitchen and the living room.
Other colours and materials that we used were influenced by the character of the building and by the neighbourhood that the flat is located in. Other criteria that we gladly respected was the budget limit from our clients.
